Jay incorporates elements of fingerstyle, live looping and jazz tinged Americana in his playing. His use of live looping makes the music sound more like 12-24 strings than the 6 strings he plays, creating an immersive experience for the audience. At times his looping makes the guitar sound like a horn section to an R&B tune and at other times it sounds like several guitarists are playing along with a mandolin, weaving different parts together to create expansive tapestries of sound.
Jay blends his originals with familiar covers from the Grateful Dead to the Beatles to Miles Davis, creating compelling and enjoyable music for audiences at every performance.
After a more than 15-year long break from performing music, playing guitar has once again become a joyous and fulfilling experience that Jay wants to share with the listener.
