Jay Meadows

Jay Meadows is a hip hop &amp; experimental r&amp;b artist from Mississauga, Canada, a city just outside of Toronto. He started making music when he was about 20 years old and initially focused on a rap heavy approach with influences such as <a href="spotify:artist:20sxb77xiYeusSH8cVdatc" data-name="Meek Mill">Meek Mill</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:55Aa2cqylxrFIXC767Z865" data-name="Lil Wayne">Lil Wayne</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7dGJo4pcD2V6oG8kP0tJRR" data-name="Eminem">Eminem</a>, &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:5K4W6rqBFWDnAN6FQUkS6x" data-name="Kanye West">Kanye West</a> fuelling the content and delivery behind his early music, most notably in older songs such as <a href="spotify:album:67uvTlY6ii5Oxflm2Wg55w" data-name="Affair">Affair</a> &amp; <a href="spotify:album:2QaxA2sWux5qKDHqKiFOSL" data-name="Meadowvale Go">Meadowvale Go</a>, which is a nod to the area of Mississauga that he is from.


Later on in his career, he started discovering other influences that were more R&amp;B focused, such as <a href="spotify:artist:1Xyo4u8uXC1ZmMpatF05PJ" data-name="The Weeknd">The Weeknd</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1ZilzPhvZhYUCSGczNRlyt" data-name="Eli Sostre">Eli Sostre</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3TVXtAsR1Inumwj472S9r4" data-name="Drake">Drake</a>, &amp; <a href="spotify:artist:2jku7tDXc6XoB6MO2hFuqg" data-name="Tory Lanez">Tory Lanez</a>. In 2019, he dropped his first EP, <a href="spotify:album:05CJSeN0qD9Q9g9Qw9Wv5J" data-name="Neon Nostalgia">Neon Nostalgia</a> which carried a darker and more emotional tone compared to his previous work. He followed that up with <a href="spotify:album:5We1I1KaOgOFc2kLxC84Jc" data-name="Neon Nostalgia 2">Neon Nostalgia 2</a>, featuring similar vibes with a much more polished sound.


Today, Jay focuses on honing this sound by dropping new music every month, performing locally, and collaborating with other creators.
