JAYSUN is a Canadian producer and multi-instrumentalist. A drummer at heart, JAYSUN began his musical career playing the drums in a jazz trio when he was 16. Since then he's studied music at the university level and played countless gigs, from corporate events to street-performing. Now that his focus has shifted into the world of hip-hop, JAYSUN still retains those connections to his jazz past. Many of his compositions aim at recreating that "jazz sample sound", a staple of the 90s hip-hop and lo-fi sound, with live instruments. "I want my beats to sound like they're sampled off of records even if they're not," JAYSUN says. Some of his biggest influences include: Karriem Riggins, 9th Wonder, Nujabes, D'Angelo, Madlib, MF DOOM, and Miles Davis.
