Jalen Johnson aka JayyGoinUp (born December 17th, 2001) is an independent singer-songwriter, dancer, actor & musician born in West Philadelphia, raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia. He has been a recording artist since he was about 9 years old then branched off from NuVybe Records at 13 to become an indie artist. He began writing his own songs during his freshman year at Franklin Learning Center. The name JayyGoinUp started to spark in 2016 when he released his EP “Not Again” on SoundCloud and YouTube featuring “Voicemail” that surpassed 100k plays on SoundCloud. He was also featured on Curlybamm’s “Song To You” that surpassed 20 million views on YouTube.
Jalen is not only an artist, he’s a dancer as well. He started impersonating the late Michael Jackson at the age of 7 and now he partakes in Hip-Hop and other popular dance trends. His distinction and versatility is what many people enjoy about Jalen. Minus his height, he’s very easy to point out in the crowd.
Jalen wishes to pursue a career in music for as long as he lives. He is trying to raise awareness and show people a different point of view through his music. He loves to create whether it’s with music or with dancing; he believes that “whatever is therapeutic to you, keep doing it”.
