Jemmy Joe is a twin. An unreliable narrator. An acquired taste. A home recording enthusiast. A Loving boo. Mixing a wide mix of folk, indie, classic songwriting, pop and a sardonic optimism, Jemmy Joe has been making music for no one his entire, god damn adult life. Though he has very little to show for it, it is the train he is on and will not be jumping off anytime soon.

Born in the Bay Area and a lifelong punk, Jemmy Joe took being a punk as one who was interested in everything. It is a telltale sign: his favorite music was “punks making non-punk music”. Starting with the banjo, then learning electro-pop recording styles and then jazz harmony composition, Jemmy Joe has never stood still or in one style. But he has always done it somewhat poorly, with pride in the humanity expressed in innocent, amateur art.

Nothing is not productive and ambitious; Jemmy Joe has continued to write, record, and produce music for himself, for others, and with others. Most likely, this will never stop. The last few years have been nothing but Bob Dylan songs done in unlikely styles. This project has been greatly aided by the collaboration of the under-the-radar music scene of Olympia, Washington. The collection “Song and Dance Man” is the pride of Jemmy Joe’s creative life, but also feels like just a start.

Starting with the EP “Bitter Sister” in 2025, Jemmy Joe returns to songwriting and leans into his peculiarities, a taste for the undone, and wild musical shifts.
