Welcome to my love of creating verse and music. I have been spellbound by great songs all my life. Is there a formula? Is it only about the melody, or do lyrics matter too? I have tried to analyze "hits" and have tried to understand what makes them so. My influences range from Lennon/McCartney to Cole Porter to Bob Dylan and Smokey Robinson. These artists and many more besides them, were able to capture magic. They are my inspiration.
My most favorite song ever? ... How Great Thou Art.
The "magic" for me came via my acoustic guitar. Most of my songs came from chord progressions. From chord progressions I can catch a "feeling" for the song I might want to write. I then embark upon a journey sometimes difficult, but mostly pleasurable. Creating can be akin to the euphoria of lovemaking. Blending lyric and melody is euphoric. Especially that moment in which everything clicks.
Writing a song is like a gift from the Muses. It's always a blessing...
So here is some of my work. I must say, I am more of a writer than a performer. If anyone finds them enjoyable that would make me very happy.
