Jerry Spin, the alter ego of musician Jeroen De Gussem (Ghent, Belgium), is a “spinner” of stories. He makes cinematic pop noir, flirting with Britpop (Blur) and indie (Arctic Monkeys). Sometimes he is caught snooping on the pathos of musical theatre, and the humour of black comedy (Father John Misty, Elbow). Narrative, satire and theatrics are tremendously important constants in his song-writing, where Jerry Spin voices pensive characters who sing about the human condition, society, and politics. When writing, he often collaborates with vocalist, pianist, and composer Eline Flintrop, his companion de route, whose clever harmonizing and crystal clear vocals join him on stage to lift the songs to a higher dimension. Also distinctive about Jerry Spin is his visual identity and carefully crafted videoclips, contributing to a carefully stylized, filmic aura.
Jerry Spin is currently writing his debut album.
Jerry Spin's singles 'Offshores' and 'Loan Shark' (from his debut-EP) were immediately picked up by leading national radio stations RADIO 1 and RADIO 2 and gained favourable press coverage in Knack Focus. His debut EP 'Beasts' (May 2023) was recorded with producer and mixing engineer Xavier De Clercq, known for his collaboration with Noémie Wolfs, and was written and recorded with musicians such as Eline Flintrop (Muri), Ruben Vanhoutte (Tamino), and Daan Van Isterdael (Pavlove).
