In April, Jessica Simpson arrived at East Nashville’s Creative Workshop to meet her band, assembled by producer JD McPherson. She was prepared vocally but unprepared for the magic that would unfold. Her songs, created in collaboration with Nashville’s top songwriters, reflected her journey of personal revelation and revival after separating from her husband after nearly 15 years of marriage. The two-part EP Nashville Canyon explores themes of heartbreak, strength, and renewal.

Jessica had been absent from making music for years but turned to her Texas roots—rockabilly, southern rock, and soul. After curating a long playlist that reflected her current heart as an artist, she realized she no longer had to conform to industry expectations. “I can lean into creativity with no rules,” she said.

Reuniting with Teresa LaBarbera, who had discovered her at 17, Jessica knew Nashville was the perfect place to reconnect with her artistic voice. There, she worked with McPherson, whose approach allowed her to break free from past limitations. The collaborative process with legendary musicians was transformative, leading to a new sound that resonated with her true self. The result is Nashville Canyon, an EP that blends personal vulnerability with evolution and empowerment.

Through this journey, Jessica rediscovered her confidence, reimagined her vision and reclaimed her voice.
