Raised on soul music and blues. J.Griff has always had an old soul and an ear for lyrics. At the age of 11 he began writing his first rhymes. He fell in love with the art of hip hop. “The music spoke to me unlike anything I’ve ever heard”.
He has credits for producing songs in the secular arena as well as Christian. This multi talented musician has always brought honesty and conviction to his songs. In 2007 JGriff released his first album Window 2 My Mind in which he produced 80% of.


After performing in churches across Chicagoland as well as his own church J began writing his first of two mixtapes he entitled Authentic Rhymes.
J began pursuing a career in barbering and became one of the most respected barbers in the country.


After a 6 year break away from music, he began collaborating with a group of worship leaders from his church and they began to infuse JGriff’s style in with weekend worship services.
JGriff has grown as not only a rapper but a worship leader he’s passionate and powerfully communicates the gospel with rap and spoken word. His latest album The Light Source, J wrote about a slew of subjects from injustice in the black community to his past as well as spiritual warfare. “The Lord wants me to tell my story through the lens of the Gospel. “
