Born in New Zealand ,Jimmy Murphy experienced from an early age a deep love of music.
His professional performing career started at 16 playing lead guitar with Freddie Keil and The Kavaliers in Auckland NZ https://youtu.be/CMp6ZPJ-zcQ "At that time there werent many original songwriters and we were a cover band playing early RockNRoll , Country and some Soul/Jazz but it was great experience and we had too much fun. New Zealand radio at that time played all styles of music under the banner of Pop so if it was good we enjoyed emulating it."
He transitioned from that into an act with his sister and they played all over NZ and Australia as Anne and Jimmy Murphy" A lot of my guitar playing in the duo was rhythm and we worked hard to become a slick floorshow. My sister had a natural outgoing personality and I took care of making sure the music was solid. One highlight was becoming part of the TV Australian Bandstand family. After touring the US with his family act known as the Murphys Jimmy formed his own band in the NW playing Honky Tonks and festivals.
Murphy moved back to Music City in 2003 to write songs and help manage his daughters careers.
