Artist. Creator. Producer. JKM8 (pronounced “checkmate”) is a new artist based in Denton, Texas. JKM8 was surrounded by a variety of genres growing up. His key inspirations in music are Timbaland, Marshmello, Kanye West, and Shawn Wasabi. Timbaland, being one of his father’s favorite artists, persuaded JKM8 to start music production at a young age. Listening to his father’s words, his passion for music production started at the age of 12.
Throughout middle school, JKM8 would often create beats in GarageBand, using his phone. At this time, JKM8 only uploaded beats and instrumentals to YouTube. His biggest video yet reached over 27K views, remixing Shawn Wasabi’s, “Marble Soda.” By the time he reached high school, he upgraded from GarageBand to Ableton Live. Once JKM8 started using Ableton Live, he was provided with a lot more opportunities and his creativity skyrocketed. Only from there did his music journey begin…
