JMES (pronounced James) is the solo project of Caroline Baker. The 21-year old alternative pop artist is from the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. The raw vulnerability heard in JMES’ lyrics and voice is impossible to ignore as she sings about her experience maneuvering through life.
Writing each song in the glow of string lights hung from her bedroom wall, JMES soulfully tells the story of her life and others around her. JMES‘ debut single, Hopeless Romantic, is a song showing the naive and complicated nature of both love and heartbreak. It was released late July 2020 with more music to soon follow!
JMES has performed at venues such as Opening Bell Coffee, The Houston Rodeo, KMID TV in Midland, Texas, Interlochen Center for the Arts and Traverse City Children’s Museum Gala. JMES began classical piano at a young age and later learned guitar at Interlochen Arts Academy where she graduated as a Songwriting Major. JMES draws from influences such as Joni Mitchell, Madonna, James Arthur, and Rupert Holmes.
