Brazilian musician and producer João Leão brings the creative energy of São Paulo's contemporary independent scene, having participated in more than 30 album recordings and worked extensively with important Brazilian indie artists including Céu, Di Melo, Curumin, Lucas Santtana, and Saulo Duarte. Living in Toronto since 2018, João is a highly sought musician in the local Brazilian and Latin music scenes, celebrating the diversity and beauty of Brazilian music in projects devoted to Bossa Nova, Brazilian soul, and Tropicália.
In his original releases, João explores an atmosphere of introspection backed by smooth grooves and dreamy sonic landscapes that bring a "neo-bossa-nova-soul" vibe. His next full-length album will be released in spring 2025, including collaborations with Brazilian and Toronto based artists.
