Pianist Joel Remmel has enriched Estonian jazz scene for more than ten years and is one of the brightest Estonian jazzpianists of his generation, who recieved Jazz Artist of the Year award on 2020. His self-titled instrumental ensemble Joel Remmel Trio has more than nine years of experience under its belt by actively performing and recording his original music. During that time they have released four albums — “Sharp” (2019), “Some Things Never Change” (2016), “More Than Fishermen” (2014) and “Lumekristall” (2012).Trio’s music has developed from Scandinavian aesthetics to more traditional jazz sound over the years. Their latest album ”Sharp" was also nominated for Jazz Album of the year category at the Estonian Music Awards 2020.
Besides Joel, the trio includes some of the younger generations brightest stars of the Estonian music scene - Heikko Remmel on double bass and Ramuel Tafenau on drums. Heikko has also established himself as a valued band member in Finnish jazz scene, Ramuel is actively playing with many key figures of Estonian jazz and pop music.
