John Collier

Born and bred in Wigan in the 80’s, raised as a teenager in the 90’s, my musical direction was easily dictated. Oasis, The Verve, Stone Roses, and all the things that came with it. They’re not only my influences, they’re what made me who I am today. They gave me my drive, my attitude, a purpose to do something with a battered acoustic guitar and a pen.
Like these bands, and many others, I try my best to write from a place of truth. Music fans can see when you’re lying. They’re not daft. They know. We know.
I write about the things that go on in my life, your life, all walks of life. Kids, jobs, works, high, lows, and all in between.
Even if the song is a little ‘glum’, I’ll always ALWAYS try and put a little breath of positivity in there. Keep the melody upbeat, keep the lyrics simple and truthful. Nothing complicated, nothing silly.
