John Hibbard and The Haybirds are a Nashville based band that mixes country with rock and roll and ties it all up in a bow of bluegrass. They are often compared to The Steeldrivers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and bands like Brooks and Dunn. This band bring a high energy show full of soaring vocals, screaming guitar, your favorite covers, and your soon to be favorite originals. They have been called “the most fun you can have in Nashville, “an absolute haymaker of a band,” and “they’re ok but he needs a haircut.”
John hails from a cattle ranch in Piñon New Mexico, where he grew up playing and singing in the church. He was a structural welder and college welding instructor for several years before turning back his original love of music.
He met his keyboard player and now wife, Kristal Wight, in Texas, where she has been a prolific songwriter and entertainer. The pair moved to Nashville where they met drummer Jared McCartney and guitarist Dan Wecht, some seasoned Music City veterans. John, Jared, and Dan were playing full time backing several artists in Nashville and on the road, when one of their artists had to call out sick. The rest of the band showed up and played the gig, and they haven’t looked back since. The Haybirds were formed, and have been staying busy with several Nashville residencies and shows on the road ever since.
