John the Bap

John the Bap formerly known as John the Baptist is a Christian hip-hop artist and music producer from New Haven, CT. Growing up in the golden era of hip-hop, his musical influences stem from producers and artists such as: DJ Premier, Marco Polo, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, RZA, Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Gang Starr and many others. He started producing music in 1999. In 2006 he met his mentor Prime Bangas, who took his music production to another level. Starting in 2007, he began working as a producer with Christian hip-hop artists nationally and internationally. In 2011, John decided to pick up the pen and wrote his first song. This was a vertical experience, as The Holy Spirit held his hand through the writing process, which confirmed his prayers of whether or not he should become an artist.

With raw honesty and cinematic flair, John the Bap returns with Testify—his most vulnerable and powerful album yet. Unfiltered and deeply personal, this project dives into a series of gripping, soul-stirring testimonies drawn from his life. Each track pulses with gritty, soulful production that brings his stories to life like scenes from a film.
