John Vallely is an Irish screen composer, arranger and song-writer. He has worked on scores for television series, audiobooks and multimedia animated comics.
He has been assistant composer to award-winning Scottish film composer Patrick Doyle (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Thor, Brave), preparing and arranging music for orchestral recordings.
Starting his screen composing career in the world of comic books, he has collaborated with acclaimed comic book creators such as Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead, The X-Files), Jordan Thomas (Frank at Home on the Farm) and Clark Bint (Killtopia). In one of these collaborations, he scored a short musical sung by internationally renowned opera singers Janet Shell and Christopher Goldsack.
Outside of composition for the screen, John also writes contemporary chamber music. He is a multi-instrumentalist and holds a Master's in Music from Queen's University Belfast, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from The National University of Ireland Maynooth, a Performance Diploma from Trinity Guildhall on the classical guitar as well as having done further studies in music production.
He is a member of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland.
