Johnny & the Raindrops play inspiring, life-affirming original music for children and families.
The band’s lovingly crafted songs have been played on radio and TV all over the world. Songs such as ‘Everybody’s Body is Different’, ‘What’s the Time?’ and ‘Be Yourself’ carefully balance entertainment with positive social and personal themes of hope, respect and diversity.
‘Lend a Friend a Hand’ was nominated for a Roundglass Songwriting award. ‘Animals in Danger’ and ‘Shine a Light’ have been sung by schools and community groups around the world.
The band have performed highly acclaimed shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, Wheee! International Children’s Festival and at hundreds of festivals, theatres and schools all over the UK and beyond.
Singer and songwriter Johnny (AKA Dr Liam Maloy) has a PhD in music made for children. His book 'Spinning the Child' (2020 Routledge) and other publications make him one of the leading scholars in the field of children’s music.
Liam was the songwriter and bass player for BritPop band Soda (also on Spotify) who had a major label record deal in the mid-1990s. He was also the lead singer for indie/post-punk band Public Display of Affection (also on Spotify).
