Formed in Chicago in 2001 by Robert Gallegos and Will Ferrin, Johnny Rev built their sound on the melodic punk rock of No Use for a Name, Face to Face, and Alkaline Trio. Early releases with producers Matt Allison and Dan Precision helped define their fast, honest style — songs rooted in frustration, heartbreak, and defiance. After a brief hiatus, Gallegos revived the band as a collective of longtime friends, returning in 2025 with “Cubicle” — a re-recording of a classic song about workplace angst and existential dread.
