Amadeus J. Harris, also known as Joka-A, was born on April 25, 1999 in Jacksonville, FL. While growing up in the outskirt of Atlanta, GA (Cobb County), the rhythm and sound of music he was naturally born with chased him into becoming a musician. Joka-A had to learn how to survive in the process of his childhood being moved from pillow to post after his grandmother passed in May of 2013. The trials and tribulations he faced from a boy to a young man are expressed thoroughly through his craft. By the envy his hometown brings, he often states himself as “Mr. Slept On”.
While reflecting on the year’s hardships, Joka-A birthed “Can’t Cry,” an anthem dedicated to emotional vulnerability within the rap community. His courage in addressing personal matters like the death of his grandmother, his views on various societal injustices, and COVID-19 are balanced by the track’s melody driven production and impeccable flow.
