Hailing from the small farming town of New Germany in southern Minnesota, Jon Arthur Schmidt is a singer-songwriter and recording artist whose classic, folk-like storytelling and melodically decorated style has led to the creation of 4 albums - all produced within the Twin Cities region.
A wilderness between the years of 2008-2015 resulted in two albums (Jesus Made a Way) & (Come on Back) inspired by his experiences, contemplations, and prayers from this time period; wherein the influence of minstrel-poet Rich Mullins and can be detected.
However, prior to writing these two albums Jon had already written and produced his first full length record in the summer of 2008, a collection of alternative/folk songs, which he recorded and released just before entering this extended season of silence. Only ever distributed to live local audiences, he has since uncovered and restored two of these original recordings for digital release - the first being Teeth Are Gnawing (2008 Remastered) followed by Peace Tree (2008 Remastered).
Being a multi-instrumentalist, Jon often performs many of the instruments across his records, and released his latest full-length album From The Marrow in 2021 - an acoustic forward offering with a subtle, quiet intensity that demonstrates Jon's ability to craft personal songs with a warm and timeless feeling.
