Progressive house DJ Jon Bishop was born and raised in Grand Haven, MI, playing the drums throughout his formative years. At 20 he relocated to San Diego, where he was indoctrinated into the Southern California underground rave scene; by 1990 Bishop was spinning techno and house at local clubs and warehouse parties, later launching his own radio show, Sounds of the Underground. In 1992 he founded his own San Diego nightspot, Club Hedonism, DJing there each Thursday evening throughout the decade to follow; additionally, Bishop tenured each month as the foreign resident at the noted Birmingham, England club Sundissential.
