Jon Dryden is a pianist/keyboardist/composer/producer/educator who splits his time between Northern California and Brooklyn, New York. He has performed and/or recorded with a wide variety of artists, including Norah Jones, Regina Carter, Paula Cole, Sara Ramirez, Lenny White, Natalie Merchant, Marcy Playground, Charlie Louvin, David Byrne, Gunhild Carling, Bobby Previte, Jesse Harris, Richard Julian, Gabi Hartmann, and many others.
Dryden’s July 2022 recording Trio was produced by Grammy award-winning songwriter Jesse Harris and features original compositions alongside songs by Hank Williams, Nirvana, and Jesse Harris. His previous trio recording Memento Mori was released in January 2020. He has performed on over one hundred albums, and has toured extensively in Europe and Japan. His latest project is Drifter, a neo-noir retro-pop band with various guest vocalists.
Dryden’s trio incorporates his own modern jazz compositions alongside songs by David Bowie, Elliott Smith, Big Star, The Beach Boys, and The Left Banke.
Dryden holds a B.A. in piano performance from The Berklee College of Music and an M.A. in Jazz Studies from San Jose State University. He is a professor/lecturer in Jazz Studies at San Jose State and Santa Clara University and performs throughout the United States and Europe.
