Artists who are born into musical royalty are held to insurmountable expectations. The last name can hold weight, but also bear the fruit of comparison which can harm one’s confidence and ability. This may be true for some, but not for singer-songwriter-producer JONAH.


JONAH comes from one of the most storied legacies in music history. His late grandmother, Aretha Franklin is hailed as the Queen of Soul. Like her, his roots are firmly planted in Detroit soil. At 13, Aretha took a young JONAH to the Grammy’s where he performed and sat in attendance. This was the moment where his dream turned into reality in the span of 48 hours.


“When I was exposed to the Grammy’s at 13 and was able to perform at one of the events held that weekend, it showed me for the first time ever how realistic my dreams were. Being around all the stars at the event and seeing how much they looked up to (and respected) my grandma helped me understand my place in this world and the fabric I was cut from.”


For over 10 years now, JONAH has perfected his craft through performances and an unwavering faith in God. From meeting with the likes of L.A. Reid and Clive Davis to opening for a crowd of over 15,000 alongside his grandmother, JONAH is ready to cement his legacy in music forever.
