Born in Vilanova i la Geltru, Cataluña, to an Spanish father and mother from Hull, England, Jonàs was brought up in a house of linguistic and cultural pluralism, as fluent in languages as it was in music. And the music always played a part.. trips back to his mothers city of Hull exposed him to the sounds of dominant 2000’s UK bands like Artic Monkeys, Kasabian, the Strokes and the Kaiser Chiefs, the language, the depth, the nuances, colloquialisms and attitudes associated to the North. While in Spain, the influences of Fito y Fitipaldis, Duncan Dhu and even Loquillo y los trogloditas took their root.
By the age of 6 Jonàs had begun playing guitar, by 12 he was writing his first songs. 7 years on and with a diversity of new influences, ranging from Spanish rappers like HardGZ, Dollar, C. Tangana and Patas Vng through to power indie players like Dermot Kennedy, Jake Bugg, Kaleo, Morgan Wallen and Alt J he is at the point of launching his own career.
The past year has been spent working on his debut EP, a body of work that takes the influences, modern and those evoking his UK heritage, to bring a new sound, and always with his unique voice front and centre, around it wrapping epic guitars, current urban, sometimes strings but always beats and delivered in english and spanish, with an incredible fluidity and seamless flow. Summer 2021 sees his debut single “All On Me” launched with Warner Spain, the rest of the EP will follow over the course of the year.
