Born in Paz de Ariporo, Colombia, Jonathan Totena started studying llanero harp since a very young age.
He graduated from the Conservatorio de Música del Tolima with a bachelors degree in music. Being influenced by colombian folk music and, since 2016, latin-american folk music.
He traveled to Xalapa, México to learn from Dr. <a href="spotify:artist:5VJwyGhX9DsZNrsx2cCTfy" data-name="Alberto de la Rosa">Alberto de la Rosa</a> the methods of jarocho harp playing. This resounds on his debut album <a href="spotify:album:2c60HFokSpniA183OgTNdL" data-name="Hecho en Casa">Hecho en Casa</a> where he combines both styles to create a hybrid of Mexican and Colombian folk music.
