formerly Lemondrop, Joni Lemons woke up on a sunny morning in the middle of june with sigh in her mouth and a queasy realization: she is soft. she took her temperature, checked the expiration on her flonase, and called upon her boyfriend to fire up the usual remedies (twilight, microwaved rice, american candy by the maine). she no longer wanted to drink sweet wine and jump on the bed and scream at boys (well, she still screams at boys, she has just accepted their stupidity with more ease); she wanted to wear sunscreen and mix metals and cry to the last 40 pages of every single mona awad novel.
