Jonny Flip’s music blends together multiple genres that have inspired him over the years while getting through tougher times. His “Pop-Rap” based sound contains honest lyrics based on life experiences such as, abandonment, legal issues, addiction, and homelessness: Music was the one thing Jonny held onto to cope during difficult times where he had limited opportunity for self-expression and life advancement. With a musical education only in drums, Jonny Flip has come a long way for a self-taught vocalist and lyricist. This growth from his earlier work is seen best on 1-800-HRT-BRKS, a poppy track about someone on the verge of breaking up with/dropping someone in a relationship became Jonny’s biggest success to date. Tracks such as Moment Like and R U OK? are some of Jonny’s biggest fan favorites so far, featuring brutally honest melodic hip-hop over calm, catchy guitar/ukelele beats. This contrast has proven to be a strong suit of Jonny’s. Coupled with his ability to create emotional melodic hip-hop sounds, Jonny’s versatility has also been shown in his recent catalogue. The last three tracks, (KARMA, Hate Me and Outside) have shown a passionate, punkier side of Jonny, highlighting more of his growing singing voice, rather than his in-your face lyricism. With a strong 2023 campaign lined up including a well balanced album, Jonny is a safe bet to have positive trajectory in 2023.
