Jordi Prats is a sarod player specializing in the North Indian classical music style. Since 2005, he has been a disciple of Pandit Shib Das Chakraborty of the Senia Maihar Gharana, a style known for its melodic beauty and long improvisational sections that develop a dialogue gradually, building in speed.
In recent years, he has also been learning from Arnab Chakraborty, one of the leading sarod players of his generation. Jordi has performed with renowned artists and projects, including Faran Ensemble, Amit Mishra, Indradeep Ghosh, Efrén López, Gad Tidhar, Avshalom Farjun, and Sougata Roy Chowdhury, among others.
Originally from Barcelona, he divides his time between India and his hometown, where he serves as the music director of Güngur Arts, one of the largest institutions for Indian classical dance and music in southern Europe.
