Jori Larres is an electronic music artist from Helsinki who creates cinematic soundscapes by combining traditional synthesis with experimental ways of working. Diving into the modular synthesizers, experimental rhythmics and granular synthesis in recent years have brought a new kind of depth and interest to the expression and arrangements.
Larres's music is inspired by theories about the multiverse and the concept of a speculative future and how we interact with the state of the future through our thinking and ideas. Latest releases can described as minimalist approach resembles ambient pioneers Brian Eno and Tangerine Dream, as well as experimental art music composers.
"The starting point of my music is improvisation and experimentation both in compositions and soundscapes. My working method is multi-phased, which typically starts by building at the idea, creating the basis for the work. The process typically continues with the main themes and synthesis. I record several takes, which by stacking and matching new ideas are born, which continue to pile up into a whole. The end result is a layered piece in which randomness and experimentation can be heard." - says Larres about his creative process.
A recent highlight for Larres was the live show at the Nomen Nescio Festival X. His music has been played on the legendary Space Junk radio show (The Finnish Public Service Media Company) and Radio Helsinki. Latest album is released by the audiovisual art collective Post-Rift.
