José Leguina is a Spanish/Norwegian artist living in Norway.
He grew up listening to his father’s records and was early fascinated by artist such as Leonard Cohen and Edith Piaf. He also developed a love for flamenco, Jazz, and classical music.
Since his musical debut playing in the hardcore band, My right Choice, José has been playing all kinds of different styles and genres.
His first own band Flowjoes, was a funk/ regggae band. Sunday morning band was more acoustic and they played mostly bossa nova, and laidback Latin-inspired music.
With the band Gamlebyen, he has now gone more electric, and latest rewies has labeled it everything from Dark americana to Surf rock.
With a blown-up Rhodes piano, a crooked contrabass, some marching band drums, and dirty guitars, Gamlebyen rattles and sways just right.
There is always a touch of Latin in there. Tangos, waltz and even some polka tracks mixed with jazz and rock elements and he also brings some fragile little acustic ballads .
