A voice cries out in the distance.
It yearns to be heard - to have a space - to be understood.
It pulses.
Its echo is something you know - something you’ve felt, something we’ve all felt.
It's something we need.
It’s safe to say that Joy Morales knows how to deftly navigate the space between the discomfort of youth and the fearful void of modern adulthood.
Her 2020 debut album “Neuma’s Cry” is the voice in the distance, comforting and rejoicing. Praising and still yearning while making its way into the foreground.
Illustrated in dialogues, with the main character being the self and each track a conversation with a different intangible character - her project paints a series of dialogues from the mind; with God, the World and the Body.
And now with her newest EP, “Blooming”, she takes us on a quietly loud journey into adulthood during the throws of COVID.
Having played for artists like Amber Mark, KAROL G, Hozier, Emily King and others - Joy has taken her experiences on the road and behind the keyboard in order to bring forth her own sound.
Tapping into psychedelic and emotional sounds harnessed by inspirations like Björk, Alex G, and even fellow friends L'Rain, Joy gives an immersive experience into her innermost thoughts.
Joy’s is a voice we need and a story that must be told.
