Joy Hackett is an emerging artist from the Bay Area who plays neo-soul music with heavy jazz and electronic influences. She sings and produces her own music, including her first single "In My Youth". Her performances include her singing and playing keyboards, with her focus being synthesizer. Even though she is often placed behind several keyboards, the shows remain engaging and interesting to the ear. She uses her education in jazz to create an interesting modern sound to her music, while bringing the familiar feel she grew up with from R&B, funk, and soul.
Her diverse background comes from playing in groups ranging from jazz, funk, electronic, gospel, and salsa throughout California. Prior to this, Joy attended San Jose State University for three years as a jazz student, switching to music technology in her last year to learn about synthesis and sound engineering. She incorporates all of these elements to create a sound like no other.
