Joya is a Hong Kong-born singer-songwriter making folk-tinged, lyrically driven, confessionale indie pop with a bedroom pop edge. Her music sits in that intimate space between softness and certainty. It’s emotionally clear, quietly bold, and rooted in questions of identity, queerness, and self-acceptance.
Her latest EP Afterglow has found a growing audience through word of mouth, passing 260,000 streams in its first month. Live, she brings the same intimacy and presence, with recent UK performances at PizzaExpress Live Soho, The Next Door Records, and a headline show at The Jago in Dalston. A feature on UK national radio is set to air later this year.
Joya was the first artist from Hong Kong to appear on the global cover of Spotify’s GLOW campaign, and has been highlighted in RADAR and EQUAL. She’s also been featured in SCMP, Tatler, MTV Asia, TimeOut, and Mixmag Asia.
Currently based between Hong Kong and London, Joya is building a body of work full of diary-like lyrics, unfiltered thoughts, and sticky melodies. Come for songs that feel personal but (hopefully) speak to something bigger. <3
