Texas bred JS is a young ambitious rapper, who’s assertive and unapologetic rhymes reflect the good, bad, and ugly parts of street life. Influenced by the likes of Tupac, Nipsey Hussle and Kevin Gates, his lyrics highlight the lives of the everyday hustler.
JS was raised on the the music of the early 90s & 2000s. He navigated a chaotic childhood through writing, and after being gifted a computer program, the young rapper began recording at home. He then took his skills public, performing in talent shows and freestyling locally.
He released his first major project entitled Retribution in 2015. The project included a feature with his close friend Matty Bee, who passed shortly before the release. JS dedicated his next work, The Matty Bee Project, to his fallen friend, and released it in 2016. His followup project, Antidepressants, was released the same year.
He would release his EP John West in 2018, then in 2019 drop Antidepressants 2. This project gave him local recognition with the song, Riding Clean, which was posted on Worldstar, and shared on blogs. He followed up with Diamonds In The Dirt in 2020, a joint EP with Texas artist, Ray Aka YungDon. Outlaw would come in 2021. The Tupac inspired EP was brief but aggressive as ever. It had features from MO3 and Maylay.
His latest album, Price of Progress, blends together politically charged themes and gritty narratives to tell of the sacrifices, heartbreaks, and hard learned lessons on the journey to success.
