Describing JStaaf’s music is a complex task. His fascination with bass, groove and drums was ignited from being surrounded by family deeply rooted in musical expression.
His musical mission revolves around curating, playing, and assembling music, striving for a perfect combination of warm analogue sounds and electronic crispness from acoustics. It’s his deep understanding of music that grants him the freedom to be spontaneous, and reveal a lifelong, distinctive collection of music as his most precious treasure – a skill that has become his secret sauce.
Eclectic sounds are at the core of his musical identity – he is unphased by genres.
His EP ‘Holocen’ caught attention from Michael Mayer & Moscoman, resulting in a record deal with Eelke Kleijn´s DAYS like NIGHTS/Armada, followed up by releases on labels Running Back, NEIN Rec, Beatfreak, Espacio Cielo and Storkenland.
JStaaf has played at highly respected parties including Tecate Pal Norte Festival, Departamento Studio in Mexico, Stockholm’s Bron/Trädgården, NEU Berns 2.35:1, Slakthuset and Kvarteret and countless more.
Beyond this, he has also played a significant role in shaping the highly regarded underground party, Substitutet in Stockholm.
JStaaf - a serious music technician, an avid collector and librarian, a motivational teacher, a playful artist - these are attempts to define him. The only thing that’s certain though - you’ll always be happily surprised by his creations.
