Born and raised in exotic Trinidad, Juan Cezar brought his native musical influences with him to the city of Atlanta in 1986. Here, he penned his own music almost daily, eventually getting the attention of a well-known DJ at Backstreet, a premier Atlanta party destination in the 80s and 90s. Backstreet DJ Bill Berdeaux mixed Juan’s song, “In My Eyes”, into a certified prime-time, highly requested dance number.
Since then, Juan has been writing and recording his music at his home studio in Atlanta. In 2007, his song “Cross The Line” was featured in the first episode of Season 3 of Dante’s Cove. Juan’s full dance CD, “Letting Go” was released September 2008 featuring special appearances by some of Atlanta’s top vocalists like Sonia Leigh and Xanna Don’t.
In 2010, Juan collaborated with his new band, “The Sex Kittens”, where he teamed up with local musicians Chuck Brittain - lead singer and guitarist of Flat Cat, Amber Taylor - lead singer and guitarist of The Sexual Side Effects, and Clay McClure - drummer for both Flat Cat and The Sexual Side Effects. In January 2011 “The Sex Kittens” played their final show together as they moved on to focus on their other projects.
Never content to remain stagnant Juan reinvented himself as the synthpop band Frisky Monkey along with multi-instrumentalists John Miklaucic & Douglas Pettus. Together they bring a heady blend of swirling synths, crunchy guitars and entrancing vocals with a pop sensibility to the electronic music landscape.
