Julian Civilian is the solo project of Reykjavik-born singer-songwriter Skúli Jónsson. For the past decade, Skúli has played in many bands in the Reykjavik indie rock scene, performing regularly at Iceland Airwaves. Skúli released his debut album as Julian Civilian, Vöknum til vors, in 2016 with the title track unexpectedly making it on to the Icelandic radio chart. In spring 2018 he released his second - loose, yet tight - record Frá mána til mána that gained highly positive reviews and has helped establish Skúli, with poetic and mostly self-reflecting lyrics, as an interesting songwriter and a noteworthy figure of the Icelandic underground music landscape. In September 2019, Skúli released his third and most accessible album to date, Grand Slam, covering his time living in New York City as well as the disappointment of having to move back to Reykjavik. The 'how to be happy EP' was released late summer 2021. On it, still very much lost in life, Skúli goes back to his punk rock roots and cooks up a collection of fast and fun songs that will probably change the way people think about life and happiness.
