Julian Haugland is an upright bassist, composer and bandleader. His style of playing is clear, melodic and focuses on using the upright bass as a singing solo instrument. Hauglands compositions consist of simple singable melodies combined with advanced rhythms written for various acoustic ensembles. As a bandleader he highly values the joy of live performance and playful interaction between his fellow musicians.
In 2025, Haugland released “Learning”, an album consisting of 7 original compositions, featuring musicians Rasmus Sørensen, Erlend Vangen Kongtorp, Amund Totland and Jongkuk Kim.
