If you’ve ever visited a Swedish Festival there’s a big probability that you’ve experienced and seen Julie Chikane on stage. As one of the busiest dancers in Sweden she’s danced with Robyn, Kaliffa and Syster Sol. She has also been on stages like the Swedish Grammy and P3 Guld and is the founder of the infamous dancehall/afrobeat dance academy "Bowdown Dance Academy". The decision to take a step forward and enter the limelight herself was a natural progression. Last year she finally had the time to enter the studio to make a reality of her dreams. The result is what Julie describes as afro - latin music. A mash up of her roots in Chile and Ghana intertwined with an expression from the neighborhood she grew up in, Rosengård (Malmö). With her background as a dancer in combination with her musical heritage she created a personal style with rhythm in focus but with the intentions to cath the listeners ear and make them stop for a second and really listen.
