July the 8th

Music, my first love. I fell in love with it and the process years before even touching the pen. Growing up in South Africa and Europe you hear so many different sounds and can't help but to be fascinated by them. My earliest moments in any form of music was as early as 11 years old while in middle school and surprising to most, I was a DJ and heavily captivated by electronic music and the likes of Avicii, one of my biggest inspirations, and David Guetta. I only really got into Hip Hop in 2013 when my brother would have Kanye West & Jay Z constantly on blast. From then I became interested in Hip Hop and started producing under the alias JoexMilkshake. I used to post my beats on Soundcloud but that obviously didn't work and I stopped producing in the year 2016. 2017 is the year I started rapping under the alias Joey, after cutting it short from JoexMilkshake, and I went on to release 2 songs that year on Soundcloud before taking a break and bettering my craft a little more and then returning as July The 8th in 2018. Years later I went from not being able to put together a verse, to completing my first full body of work and now I'm ready to take everything as it comes and hopefully someday I can look back and say "the rest is history".
