Guitarist Jun Kim is a boundary-defying musician whose work flows between improvisation, emotion, and experimentation.
Rooted in jazz yet unconfined by genre, his sound integrates styles ranging from Cool and Modal Jazz to Fusion, Avant-garde, Ambient, Lo-fi, Neo Soul, and Soul.
A graduate of the University of North Texas (M.M. in Jazz Guitar),
Jun was recognized early in his career as “A New Face of Korean Jazz” by EBS Space Gonggam (2012)
and was nominated for Best Jazz & Crossover Performance at the Korean Music Awards the same year.
Since his debut album Unconstrained (2011), Jun has released a series of conceptually rich works—
Expectation (2012), Sensualism (2014), Cosmic Aesthetic (2017), Myself (2018), and Inner Self (2022)—
each exploring personal identity and the cosmic dimensions of sound.
His approach remains centered on dialogue, spontaneity, and the coexistence of structure and freedom.
Currently leading RicoTown and the Jun Kim Sensualism Trio,
he bridges modern grooves like Lo-fi Jazz, Neo Soul, and City Pop Jazz with jazz’s emotional depth and improvisational roots.
As the founder of the Jun Kim Music education channel, he shares his deep knowledge of jazz harmony and creative performance with students worldwide.
