Jürgen Augusteyns (°Gent, 1972) is a gitarist/improviser.
Jürgen Augusteyns left the comfort zone within the pop and rock circuit a few years ago and set out to discover new, unknown paths in search of wonder and open-mindedness.
Inspired by guitarists such as Loren Connors, Chris Forsyth and Mick Turner, but also musicians and bands such as Sir Richard Bischop, Oren Ambarchi and Six organs of admittance, Jürgen sets out in search of his own musical universe, in which he does not shy away from experimentation.
Instant composing is the common thread in both his studio work and his live performances, often making use of minimalist structures and repetitive patterns.
The essence is given all the space to become, during the moment.
Jürgen played with Eric Thielemans, Karen Willems, Joachim Badenhorst, Rodrigo Fuentealba Palavicino, Nicolas Rombouts, Joao Lobo, Teuk Henri, Nils Vermeulen, Mauro Pawlowksi, Anke Verslype, Takashi Masubushi and many others.
