Jurgen Burdorf

Dutch guitarist Jurgen Burdorf and his band play compact instrumental songs with catchy grooves and original melodies. A personal mix of jazz, rock and fusion with a lot of space for improvisation and adventure. Jurgens playing unifies searing leads, subtle blues licks and bebop lines in a natural way. He is versatile and plays with healthy doses of virtuosity, intensity and expressiveness. All this shows his dedication to the the guitar, that started when he heard Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) at the age of eight years old. Other influences are Steve Lukather, Mike Stern and Bill Frisell. Jurgen studied jazz guitar at the prestigious Amsterdam Conservatory. The other members of Jurgen's band are Dutch Colombian Tico Pierhagen (Aguabajo) on keyboards, Hugo den Oudsten (Ruben Hein) on bass guitar, Willem Smid (Saskia Laroo, Amsterdam Saints) on the drums and percussionist Gijs Anders van Straalen (Wouter Hamel).
