Just Some Guy is a storyteller trying to share the hope that comes in the most unlikely places
This is a journey that started as a drum and bass MC. As much as he enjoyed the hype and the energy he realised he wanted to connect in a different way, he wanted his lyrics to tell a story.
When he received a tape of Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip a new platform opened up. This is when Just Some Guy’s journey really began. Filled with a sense of purpose, and influenced by the likes of Polar Bear, Kae Tempest, David J and The Streets, he became infatuated by spoken word’s ability to capture a crowd through story, and set off to explore.
Following a turbulent time in life he found the inspiration he needed from working with people in the margins. That gave him a drive to write lyrics give a voice to those who cannot be heard, and ones seeking the light in stories that are hard to hear. A desire emerged to make a difference with messages reminding people there is hope in every story.
After performing at various festivals and shows, new opportunities arose for Just Some Guy in 2012 when he linked up with Peer Pressure Records founder Facing Jinx on “Lonely”Since then he has continued to explore this style collaborating with Wreckless on “Face of the Deep” then later by releasing his Souvenirs EP in 2015, before focusing on crafting his debut album “The Stories I Tell Myself”, which represents a culmination of narratives from his incredible journey.
