Ras Jahlani Ben-Levi (born January 22, 1999) is a Jamaican-American creative whose work bridges music,
fashion, community, and technology. Born in Bedford, Ohio, and raised in Columbus from the age of one,
Ras Jahlani is the son of a mother from Cleveland, Ohio and a father from Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Describing
himself as surreal, obnoxious, and peaceful, he channels these contrasts into his art, blending chaotic energy
with intentional design and storytelling. With over a decade of experience in music, he has cultivated a
sound rooted in emotional and poetic expression while simultaneously building a career in fashion and
design through his streetwear brand Mistakes Made Me Rare, a label defined by its philosophy of patience,
consistency, and freedom.
His breakout moments include being recognized as the Most Outstanding Student in Music Production
and Audio Engineering at Fort Hayes Career Center in 2017, graduating from Capital University in Music
Technology in 2023, and currently advancing his studies in cybersecurity.
From starting a chess club with his father in the fourth grade, to opening for Playboi Carti at Ohio
State University in 2019, to receiving a grant to host a music festival in 2021—where he paid 16 artists
and brought together community vendors—his journey has been defined by creativity, leadership, and
community impact.
