Adding a little prog and pop to indie rock, Portland, OR's Kaddisfly steered clear of the popular trends of their day and released the powerful EP Honorable Mention in 2001. Another EP, Humania, appeared a year later and was followed in 2003 by their first full-length, Did You Know People Can Fly? Buy Our Intention; We'll Buy You a Unicorn from 2005 found the band -- vocalist/pianist Chris Ruff, guitarist Aaron Tollefson, bassist Kile Brewer, drummer Beau Kuther, and guitarist/percussionist Kelsey Kuther -- on the Hopeless label. Fall 2006's EP The Four Seasons (released digitally and in a limited run through Hopeless) served as a precursor to the gang's next full-length, Set Sail the Prairie, released in early March 2007. Kaddisfly also spent the first part of the year as part of the Take Action Tour alongside the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and more. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
