Kai Castro

Kai Castro launched his career by matching the meteoric growth of Austin’s electronic scene. Holding residencies at two generations of the city’s most iconic clubs, first at Kingdom and then at The Concourse Project, he has built considerable expertise as a versatile DJ. On these stages, Kai regularly supports global headliners ranging from Eric Prydz and Sasha to Sammy Virji and Mall Grab. Also a fixture of the local festival circuit, Kai has performed at seven editions of Seismic Dance Event.

Kai’s sound lives between genres—drawing from house, UK garage, and leftfield club—with a style that’s high-energy, high-personality, and unmistakably his own. His songs & sets are both eclectic & memorable, and with the 2025 launch of his independent label, Birds of Play, Kai has created a dedicated home for both his unique songwriting and sounds he wasn’t hearing elsewhere.

A 2024 move to Chicago marked a new chapter, as Kai quickly found his footing in the city’s storied club scene. His debut at the legendary Spybar was soon followed by appearances at venues like Smoke & Mirrors and Concord Music Hall. Offstage, he’s equally engaged—serving as a panel moderator and A&R lead at the inaugural Chicago Electronic Music Conference and creating content that’s as thoughtful as it is entertaining.
