Growing up in Atlanta, the now LA-based Kallan HK has been obsessed with drum & bass since she first discovered it as a teenager. Starting as a DJ her passion led to her crafting her own tracks, which had been her escape during her formative years; with a strong desire to engineer sounds that people could connect to. Kallan has released on major DNB labels such as Viper Recordings (UK), Program Records, and the mighty Ram Records. This has now ascended her career, becoming the first female producer to release on Ram & Program, one of the leading tastemakers throughout the Drum & Bass scene.
Inspired by the game-changing productions of Metrik, Sub Focus and Mind Vortex, artists who have all graced the back catalog of Ram, her latest release ‘So Much Pain / They Live’ shows a fresh approach to the genre. These inspirations come as no surprise after she witnessed her first night at London’s superclub Fabric at just eighteen, where they all regularly play sets. This would later set the foundations of opening sets for Calyx & Teebee, Noisia, Rene LaVice and more at a range of events like Imagine Festival in Georgia and US legs of the World of Drum & Bass tour.
